CDS duo – simple preparation of a 0.3% chlorine dioxide solution

CDS duo is a well-designed 2-component system for the preparation of a 0.3% chlorine dioxide solution (CDS) The focus is on a simple and controlled process that achieves a defined concentration without complex calculations.

Unlike traditional systems that require multiple parameters to be considered, CDS duo is designed to reliably produce the desired concentration. This simplifies the preparation process while ensuring consistent quality.

Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) is a powerful oxidizing agent used in applications such as water treatment, as well as in technical and hygienic processes. The solution produced with CDS duo corresponds to a 0.3% chlorine dioxide solution and exhibits the typical characteristics of this substance group.

This system is intended for users who want to prepare chlorine dioxide themselves while benefiting from a clear, simple and reproducible process.

With CDL duo, two components are combined to create a 0.3% chlorine dioxide solution. Preparation is carried out by mixing the included powder with the liquid in the amber glass bottle. The bottle is then sealed and shaken.

After a reaction time of approximately 90 minutes, a chlorine dioxide solution (CDL) with a concentration of 0.3% is ready for use. Separate calculations or individual dosing of the raw materials are not required.

Typical areas of application correspond to those of CDL solutions in general, particularly in areas where microbiological contamination is intended to be reduced.

These include microbiological contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae, germs, biofilms and legionella.

Possible fields of application include private households (e.g. kitchen and bathroom), mobile use while travelling or camping, craft and technical work, as well as applications in research, technology and hygienic environments.

Chlorine dioxide solution (CDL) may also be used, within the appropriate framework, for water treatment and surface cleaning.

Instructions for use

The specific application depends on the intended purpose and individual requirements. The chlorine dioxide solution produced with CDL duo is listed in accordance with the German Drinking Water Ordinance (§ 11) as a substance for water treatment. Dosing should be carried out according to the product label and applicable regulations.

For proper use, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the intended applications in advance. Careful and appropriate handling supports reliable use. Please note that this is a biocidal product. Use biocidal products with caution. Always read the label and product information before use.

CDL duo

To maintain consistent quality, both the individual components and the resulting chlorine dioxide solution should be handled and stored properly. A distinction should be made between storage before and after preparation.

Storage Before Preparation

The individual components can be stored at room temperature. When unopened and stored properly, the components generally have a shelf life of several years (approximately 3-4 years).

Dry, light-protected and tightly sealed storage helps maintain the long-term quality of the components.

Storage After Preparation

After combining the components, a 0.3% chlorine dioxide solution (CDL) is produced. The same general storage conditions apply as for ready-to-use CDL products.

Chlorine dioxide is a volatile substance and may gradually lose concentration if stored improperly. Suitable storage helps maintain the stability of the solution for as long as possible.

After preparation, the solution generally remains stable for several months when stored properly (approximately 8-9 months), although the concentration may gradually decrease over time.

It is recommended to note the date of preparation (activation) directly on the bottle in order to keep track of the shelf life.

Recommended Storage Conditions (After Preparation)

store in a cool place (ideally refrigerated at 2-8 °C)
protect from direct sunlight and light exposure
store in the light-protective amber glass bottle (original container)
keep the bottle tightly closed at all times
close immediately after use

Handling Instructions

avoid contact with eyes and skin
do not inhale or swallow
use only according to the intended application
keep out of reach of children
follow all safety instructions

What does CDS mean?

CDL stands for chlorine dioxide solution. It refers to chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) dissolved in water with a defined concentration.

What is the difference between CDL and CDS?

CDL and CDS essentially refer to the same thing. CDL is the German abbreviation, while CDS is the English abbreviation for chlorine dioxide solution.

What is chlorine dioxide?

Chlorine dioxide is an oxidizing substance used to reduce microbiological contamination. This includes bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae, germs, biofilms and legionella.

What is CDS used for?

Chlorine dioxide is used in drinking water treatment, water supply systems, as well as in technical and hygienic applications.

Is chlorine dioxide approved under the German Drinking Water Ordinance?

Chlorine dioxide is listed as a substance for water treatment according to §11 of the German Drinking Water Ordinance.

Does CDS have a strong smell or taste?

When used correctly and at the proper dosage, chlorine dioxide is hardly noticeable in water in terms of taste.

What is the difference between CDS aktiv, CDS duo and CDS classic?

CDL aktiv
Ready-to-use 0.3% chlorine dioxide solution; no activation required. (Currently unavailable)

CDL duo+ The new ready-made solution 2.0
2-component system for easily preparing a fresh 0.3% CDL solution with a defined concentration.

CDL classic
